About Boeing 787 (Dreamliner)
The Airplane from the Future! ANA's Boeing 787 (Dreamliner)
The Boeing 787 (Dreamliner) is a modern airliner with the romantic nickname "Dreamliner." The very first airline in the world to fly passengers into the big sky on a Boeing 787 (Dreamliner) was Japan's own ANA (All Nippon Airways)! This historic plane is kinder to Earth than older planes. It is packed with world-first technologies to help passengers have a smooth and comfortable flight.
Three Sister Models
The Boeing 787 (Dreamliner) planes used by ANA come in three types, each with a different body length. ANA chooses which one to fly based on the flight distance and the number of passengers.
- 787-8: The original model that debuted first. Even though it is a medium-sized plane, it has amazing power to fly all the way from Japan to far-off places like America and Europe in one go!
- 787-9: The body is a bit longer than the 787-8 so it can carry even more passengers and cargo. It is the star player of ANA's fleet today!
- 787-10: This is the longest model of the three. It is great at carrying a lot of people at once. It works hard on busy routes in Japan and on flights to other countries in Asia.
High-Tech Looks and Feature Secrets
The Boeing 787 (Dreamliner) has cool features that you can spot easily, even from far away!
- Beautiful Wings That Bend Flexibly: When flying through the sky, the big main wings on the left and right bend upward like a bow! Made from special light and strong materials, the wings act like soft cushions. Plus, it has a Smoother Ride Technology system. Sensors spot bumpy air ahead and work to cancel it out, keeping the plane from shaking!
- Zigzag Engine Pattern: The back opening of the engine has a neat "zigzag shape (chevron nozzle)." This special design softens the sound made when hot jet air mixes with the outside air. That is why the Boeing 787 (Dreamliner) can fly so quietly!
- Big Windows That Change Color with a Button: The windows are about 1.3 times larger than older planes, giving you a wonderful view outside! Also, there are no plastic shades to pull down by hand. Instead, when you press a button below the window, electricity changes the glass from clear to deep blue!
A Cozy Cabin Gentle on Your Ears and Skin
Inside airplanes flying high in the sky, the air often gets very dry, and changing air pressure can make your ears hurt. But the body of the Boeing 787 (Dreamliner) is super strong! It can keep a gentle air pressure just like the top of a Japanese mountain (about 1,800 meters high). The air inside stays nicely moisturized, so your throat and skin will feel great even on long flights!
How to Color Boeing 787 (Dreamliner)
How to Choose Your Colors
When you color the ANA Boeing 787 (Dreamliner) coloring page, try using the bright and fresh ANA colors!
- Main Body Color: ANA planes are mostly a bright white. If you neatly draw the two special blue lines—Triton Blue (dark blue) and Mohican Blue (light blue)—it will instantly look like a real plane!
- Tail Wing and Logo: Color the big wing at the back (the tail wing) with a nice dark blue. Look for the big white letters that say "ANA" on it!
- Cockpit Windows: The windows where the pilots sit have a black frame around them. Coloring this part neatly in black will make the plane's face look extra sharp and cool!
Make It Look Cool as It Flies!
You can use your colors to show the powerful plane zooming through the giant sky!
- Show the Wings Bending: If your plane is flying, add a soft color blend that bends slightly upward toward the wingtips. This makes it look like it is catching the wind and flying super fast!
- Make the Engines Look 3D: For the round engines, make the bottoms a little bit darker gray. You can also mix in some light blue or silver to make them shiny and look like real 3D metal!
Try Creative Backgrounds
Draw lots of things in the background and send your plane on a trip around the world! Besides a blue sky and white clouds, you can draw an orange sunset sky, or a sparkly night sky full of stars. You can even draw a runway with lots of twinkling lights to show the plane parked at a cool night airport!
Tips for Having Fun with Your Coloring Page!
You do not have to use real ANA colors if you do not want to! It is totally okay to use your favorite colors and make your very own plane! Try making a rainbow plane, or draw your favorite characters on it. Have fun designing your very own Boeing 787 (Dreamliner)!
Fun Facts About Boeing 787 (Dreamliner)
Even though it's an airplane, it has a humidifier!
Older airplanes made of aluminum got rusty if they got wet, so the air inside was kept very dry. But the Boeing 787 (Dreamliner) is made of carbon fiber that doesn't rust! This means it can keep moisture inside the cabin and make the air nice and comfortable for you.
The secret behind the window shades
When you press a button, the windows slowly turn dark all by themselves! This is called an electronic shade. There is a special liquid (gel) inside the glass, and when electricity runs through it, it creates a chemical reaction that changes the liquid into a dark blue color to block the light. Scientists call this "electrochromism." Even without a plastic shade, it blocks bright sunlight while still letting you see a tiny bit of the view outside! (*On newer airplanes, they have improved this so you can make it even darker!)
The zigzag pattern is a sign of "quietness"
Look at the big zigzag pattern on the back of the engines. This isn't just to make the Boeing 787 (Dreamliner) look cool! It smoothes out the rough air coming out of the engine and makes the noise much quieter. Thanks to this shape, the Boeing 787 (Dreamliner) is a friendly airplane for people living near airports too.
