About Actor

A job where you transform into so many different people!

An Actor is a genius of expression who becomes a completely different person to act in movies, TV dramas, and on stage!

  • An Actor can turn into anyone, like a police officer, a doctor, or even a hero from history or an alien!

  • They cry real tears in sad scenes and show genuine smiles in fun scenes. It is a magical job that touches the hearts of everyone watching.

Doing great work in movies, TV, and on stage

There are many places all around us where an Actor shines!

  • They show us cool, powerful action on the big screen at the movie theater.

  • They bring wonderful feelings to many people through TV dramas at home and live stage plays in theaters.

What are they called in English?

A male actor is called an "Actor," and a female actor is called an "Actress."

  • Lately, people often use the word "Actor" for both men and women.

  • So many Actors all over the world make everyone excited beyond words!

Signals for filming! "Action!" and "Cut!"

On a filming set for a movie or TV drama, you will hear people shout out loud signals.

  • When the Actor hears "Action!", they instantly get into character and start acting.

  • When the scene finishes, someone shouts "Cut!", and the Actor goes back to their normal self. Switching back and forth like that is super cool!

The director is the leader of the filming team

In the bottom right of the picture, the person holding a megaphone and yelling "ACTION!" is the movie director!

  • The director is the captain of the filming team. They plan what kind of movie to make and give instructions to everyone.

  • They watch the Actor's performance closely and say things like, "That acting was amazing!"

The secret of the big camera and tracks

If you look at the front left of Actor.png, you can see a huge movie camera with wheels on it.

  • The camera slides smoothly along tracks laid on the ground, just like a real train.

  • This lets them record pretty video that follows the Actor walking without shaking the screen.

Big lights that brightly shine on rooms and streets

On the filming set, there are many big, square lights set up on stands.

  • Sunlight alone can leave the Actor's face in the dark, so they use these lights to make everything super bright.

  • Thanks to the lights, the Actor's eyes sparkle, making their face look cool just like you see on TV!

A long microphone to catch clear sound

Look at the staff member on the right holding out a fluffy microphone at the end of a very long pole!

  • This is called a shotgun mic. It is an amazing mic that can pick up only the Actor's voice clearly, even from far away.

  • They record sound by keeping the mic just above the Actor's head so it does not show up on screen.

"Location shooting" to act out in the city

Filming outside of a studio, like renting a real cafe or street, is called location shooting.

  • In the background of the picture, you can see a stylish shop named "CAFÉ" and everyday people (extras) walking in the street.

  • Filming in a real town makes the video feel real, as if the story is truly happening right there!

How to Color Actor

Color the Main Actor and Actress Cool and Stylish!

Let's make the two main stars holding hands in the center of the screen stand out the most. The secret for their skin is to use light orange or cream, press lightly, and color gently and softly. If you dab a little pink onto their cheeks, they will turn into wonderful smiling faces acting with exciting hearts in front of the camera. Make the boy's jacket "cool navy" or "grown-up brown" and the girl's dress "bright red" or "cute yellow." Then, both of them will pop right out and look cool just like a movie poster! Try adding a shade slightly darker than the main color into the creases of their clothes. It will make the clothes look puffy and 3D.

Realistic Look for Filming Gear and Cameras

Here are tips to make the big movie camera on the front left and the tools held by the staff around them look cool and mechanical. Color the big camera and tripod stands firmly with metallic "gray" or "matte black" to show the texture of sturdy machines. If you make the camera rails on the ground "silver" or "dark brown" and add darker gray shadows in the gaps, it shows how smoothly the camera glides along. Your coloring page will become super exciting, looking like filming is about to start right now. Choose a different color for each staff member's hat and clothes. You can perfectly show the lively feel of everyone working together to make a movie.

How to Color the Director's Megaphone and Monitors

There are many fun items around the director who is hard at work on the bottom right. If you color the megaphone held by the director in "dazzling yellow" or "cheerful red," you can create a fun mood where the shout of "ACTION!" echoes around! Inside the two small monitor screens in front of the director, the faces of the two main stars captured by the camera are shown. The secret trick to becoming a pro coloring artist is to color the two people on the monitors carefully with matching colors to the two in the middle. If you color the extra space on the screens lightly with "light blue," you can make the LCD screens look shiny and real.

Perspective of the Big City and Tower Beyond the Window

Let's neatly finish the cafe building, the many high-rise buildings, and the radio tower spreading across the background. Color the walls and pillars of the stylish cafe with warm "brown or beige" to make it a chic city shop. When you color the tall radio tower and high-rise buildings standing far away, the best magic trick is to use light blues or grays that are slightly lighter and paler than the room and people in the front! By softly coloring the distant scene lighter, the Actor and camera in front will pop out at you and create wonderful depth. Keep the green stripe of the taxi driving on the road and color its body "yellow" or "black" to make the city street look even more real.

Express Yourself Freely and Make Your Own Movie!

There are no right answers in coloring pages, so the most important thing is to use your favorite colors freely with your dream of "I wish there was a cool movie like this!" It is great to make the background sky a "refreshing blue sky," or even make it an "orange and purple sunset sky" to create a romantic final scene for your movie! Don't worry if you color outside the lines. Just move your colored pencils or crayons with lots of energy. The coloring page you work hard on will become a special movie scene found nowhere else in the world. Express yourself freely! Doing so will bring your coloring page to life even more!

Fun Facts About Actor

Who Was the World's First Actor?

A long time ago, plays were performed by everyone singing together in a group. It is said that a person named Thespis in ancient Greece was the very first to step out alone to speak the lines of a god as a single role. Because of this story, an Actor is still sometimes called a *"Thespian"* in English today.

Amazing Preparation to Become the Character

When an Actor plays a new role, they work super hard to prepare for it. Sometimes they gain or lose over 20 pounds to fit the character. They might even train with real workers to learn real job skills. They put so much passion into truly living another person's life!

The Important Job of the Slate Board

You know the slate board that goes "Clack!" when someone says "Action!" on a movie set? It has a very important job. Movies usually record picture and sound on different machines. That "clack" sound and the moment the board snaps shut help people match the sound and picture perfectly later on. It is also a handy sign that shows which shot is being filmed.

The Magic Secret to Crying on Command

An Actor can cry real tears during sad scenes. Most of the time, they are not using eye drops. They feel the character's emotions so deeply that they really become sad and cry. Some use a special trick called an "emotional drawer." They think back to a sad time in their own life to control their tears.
