About Jimny

A Small and Powerful Four-Wheel Drive Car

Jimny is a small four-wheel drive car made by Suzuki.
Four-wheel drive means the engine sends power to all four tires to make the car go.
That is why it can power through bumpy mountain roads, muddy roads, and snowy roads.
Its body is small and light, so it can run on narrow mountain paths where big cars cannot go.
It is a car that people who work in the mountains and people who live in snowy areas have loved for a long time.

A Car Made for Over 50 Years

Jimny was born in 1970, and people have been making it for over 50 years.
The 1st generation was a very simple car with no roof and no doors.
The 2nd generation came out in 1981. It was made for a long time, and some had cloth roofs or metal roofs.
The 3rd generation came out in 1998. It had a rounded shape and was made for almost 20 years.
The 4th generation came out in 2018. It went back to a boxy, sturdy shape just like the 1st and 2nd generations.

Jimny Sierra and Jimny Nomad

Jimny is a light car, but it has a friend called Jimny Sierra that has a slightly bigger engine.
It has big parts sticking out around the tires, so it looks very sturdy.
In 2025, the long-bodied Jimny Nomad with five doors came out, making it easier to get in and out of the back seats.
As soon as it went on sale, lots of people ordered it, and it became big news.
It is the perfect car for going camping with your whole family.

7 Coloring Pages

There are 7 coloring pages featuring the 1st through 4th generation Jimny, the Jimny Sierra, and the Jimny Nomad.
The 1st generation and the 2nd generation SJ30 are open cars with no roofs, so you can see the seats and the steering wheel.
The 2nd generation JA11 is a car with a soft top roof made of cloth.
Line them up from oldest to newest, and compare how the round headlights and the vertical slots on the grille have changed!

The Secret of the Name

People say the name "Jimny" was made by putting the English words Jeep and Mini together.
It means "a small Jeep."

How to Color Jimny

Use Great Outdoor Colors

Jimny comes in many colors that look great in the mountains and forests, like yellow, green, red, and khaki.
It is also fun to use real colors! The first generation was yellow, the second generation SJ30 was red, and the fourth generation Jimny Sierra was dark green.
You can also make a cool two-tone car by coloring just the roof black or white.

Color the Big Tires Dark Gray

Jimny's tires have deep grooves so it can drive on bumpy roads.
If you color the tires dark gray or black and make the grooves a little darker, it will look super strong.
Color the wheels silver or gray. For old Jimny iron wheels, use black or white.

Seats and Soft Tops

Try coloring the open car seats black or dark brown! For the second generation JA11 soft top roof, try white or light gray.
If you color the bumpers and the parts around the tires black or dark gray, it will look just like a Jimny.

A Muddy Jimny Looks Cool Too

After driving on mountain roads, a Jimny might get muddy on its tires and underneath.
If you lightly color the bottom with brown, your Jimny will look cool, like it just came back from an adventure!
It is also fun to draw mountains, rivers, or snow in the background.

Lights and Windows

For the round lights, leave the middle white and color the edges silver.
Color the windows light blue and leave a few white spots. That will make them shine like real glass!

Fun Facts About Jimny

Ladder Frame

Jimny is built by putting the car body on top of a tough iron frame called a ladder frame, which looks like a ladder.
Even if it gets a big push on bumpy roads, it does not break easily.
It is a rare way to make small cars today.

Jimny Drives All Over the World

Jimny has been sold not just in Japan, but in over 190 countries and regions around the world.
It is super popular in countries with lots of mountains and places without paved roads.
In some countries, it was even called other names like Samurai.

Working Jimny

Jimny has also been used for many jobs, like people protecting mountain forests, checking power lines, and delivering mail.
Because it is small and strong, it does great work even in places other cars cannot go!

Number of Tires on Jimny

In addition to the 4 tires for driving, many Jimny cars have a spare tire attached to the back door or trunk.
This is so you can change the tire right away, even if you get a flat tire deep in the mountains.
You can see a spare tire on the back in the coloring page for the 2nd generation SJ30, too!

Strong on Steep Slopes

Jimny has a special gear system so it can drive strongly even on steep slopes.
It can go slow and climb up steep hills and rocky areas where big cars cannot go!
