Unlike the uppercase letter, lowercase "Alphabet "U"" has a little tail at the bottom right.

The sound of "U"
The letter "U" is called "yoo" when you say its name in the alphabet.

But the "U" in Unicorn, UFO, and Ukulele sounds close to its name, "yoo."
As you can see, the same letter can make different sounds depending on the word!
Learning the sounds letters make inside words, not just their names, is called phonics.

How to Color Alphabet "U"
Color the Big "U" and "u" in Your Favorite Colors
Color inside the lines of the big "U" and "u" at the top right in your favorite colors.
If you match the colors to the stroke order numbers—like red for line ① on the left and blue for line ② on the right—it will be super easy to learn how to write them.
Since there is an umbrella, coloring them light blue like a rainy day would be lovely too!
Think of a Pattern for the Umbrella
The umbrella is divided into a few sections between the ribs.
If you change colors for each section—like red, yellow, and blue—it will look like a colorful rainbow!
It is also fun to draw polka dots or stars on it.
If you color the handle brown or black, it makes the umbrella look neat and sharp.
Color the Little Pictures Too
For the unicorn, leave the body white and color the mane and tail pink, purple, or light blue to make it look magical.
Try coloring the UFO silver or gray, and make the windows yellow so it looks like it is glowing.
Color the ukulele a light brown wood color.
Trace Slowly with a Pencil
At the bottom right, you will see 4 light gray "U"s in the top row and 4 "u"s in the bottom row.
Hold your pencil correctly and trace them slowly in the right stroke order.
The trick for the rounded bottom is to curve slowly so it does not look pointy!
Sit the letters right on the 3rd line of the 4-line grid.
Finally, Read the Words Out Loud
When you finish coloring, trace the letters for Umbrella under the left picture with your finger and say "umbrella" out loud.
Connecting the picture, the letters, and the sound will help you learn the alphabet much better!
When your coloring page is all done, you can hang it on your wall or put it in a binder to save it.
