About Rescue Squad Vehicle (Rescue Truck)

A fire engine packed with tools to save people

The Rescue Squad Vehicle (Rescue Truck) is a fire engine packed with lots of tools to rescue people trapped in accidents or disasters.
It is ridden by a rescue team often called the rescue squad, so it is also known as a "rescue truck."
Unlike fire engines that spray water to put out fires, the job of the Rescue Squad Vehicle (Rescue Truck) is to save people from broken cars and damaged buildings.
Taking injured people to the hospital is the job of the ambulance, so once people are rescued, the rescue team passes the baton to the ambulance crew.
The first coloring page shows the Rescue Squad Vehicle (Rescue Truck) seen from the front left side.
There are seats behind the driver's seat too, so it has two side doors lined up from front to back so many team members can get in.

The side of the vehicle is a big storage box

The big box behind the driver's seat is a storage box for tools.
When you open the big side doors, tools are packed tightly onto the shelves.
It holds hydraulic rescue tools that pry open or cut through broken car doors, tools that lift heavy objects out of small gaps, and cameras to search for people under rubble.
The square things lined up near the top of the box are lights to illuminate the area around it.
In both the first and third coloring pages, you can see diagonal and wavy line patterns on the side of the box.

Winches, cranes, and lights

The Rescue Squad Vehicle (Rescue Truck) has big tools built right onto the truck itself.
The first is a winch that pulls heavy objects with a wire cable.
Because there is a winch on the front, the bumper of the Rescue Squad Vehicle (Rescue Truck) sticks out much further than other fire engines.
If you look at the third coloring page, you can see a mesh pattern cover in the middle of the bumper and U-shaped metal fittings for connecting the wire.
The second is a crane to lift heavy objects, and the third is a light system to make night rescue sites bright.
Some lights can even rise up automatically!

Types I to IV based on size

Rescue Squad Vehicle (Rescue Truck)s are divided into Type I, Type II, Type III, and Type IV depending on their size and the tools they carry.
Type I is based on a 2- to 3-ton truck, Type II on a 5- to 7-ton truck, and Type III on a 7- to 10-ton truck.
Type II is the most common, while Type III is an extra-large truck that carries special machines for finding people.
Type IV works in a pair of two trucks, made so they can be carried far away by airplane during big disasters.

Checking the extended crane in front of the fire station

The second coloring page shows a scene with the crane extended high in front of the fire station.
A wire hangs down from the tip of the crane, and there is a hook attached to the end.
Behind the truck, support legs press firmly against the ground to keep the vehicle from tipping over when using the crane.
Behind it is the fire station building, where you can see a ladder reaching high into the sky, and another fire engine on the far left.
They are checking to make sure the tools work properly so they are always ready to go!

The Rescue Squad Vehicle (Rescue Truck) by the grass

The third coloring page shows the Rescue Squad Vehicle (Rescue Truck) parked by the grass, seen from the front right side.
Two antennas stand on the roof, and there is a ladder on the side of the box for climbing up.
Fluffy clouds float in the sky, an elevated road is in the back right, and traffic cones stand in the front.

How to Color Rescue Squad Vehicle (Rescue Truck)

Start with bright red for the body

Real Rescue Squad Vehicle (Rescue Truck)s are usually painted in the same bright red as other fire engines.
There are rules for the red on real fire engines, but you can paint your coloring page any color you like!
If you choose red, leave the door handles, lights, and door edges white or silver. That will make the body look super sharp!

Make the line patterns on the side stand out

The trademark of the Rescue Squad Vehicle (Rescue Truck) is the line pattern on the side of the storage box.
The first and second pictures have wavy lines, and the third picture has diagonal lines.
If you leave only these lines white or yellow, your truck will look cool, like it is zooming along!
The inside of the lines is narrow, so trace them slowly with a sharp colored pencil.

Paint the winch and crane in different colors

If you paint the winch cover on the bumper in the third picture and the crane in the second picture in colors different from the body, everyone can easily see where the tools are!
You can leave the crane red, or paint it yellow or orange to make it pop.
Paint the hook and wire with thin grey or black lines to make them look real.

Color the background too

If you paint the fire station in the second picture light grey or cream, the red truck in front will really stand out!
For the third picture, try painting the sky light blue, leaving the clouds white, painting the grass light green, and making the traffic cones red and white stripes.
If you paint the elevated road grey, it will look like it is far in the back.

Fun Facts About Rescue Squad Vehicle (Rescue Truck)

With the front winch, it can even pull its own body

The winch on the front of the Rescue Squad Vehicle (Rescue Truck) is a tool that rolls up wire to pull heavy things.
It is used to move broken cars and pull over fallen objects.
Some winches on a Rescue Squad Vehicle (Rescue Truck) can pull a weight of about 5 tons.
The winch is stored inside the net-patterned cover on the bumper in the 3rd picture.

How much can the crane lift?

The crane on the Rescue Squad Vehicle (Rescue Truck) is used to lift heavy objects and save people underneath.
Some Rescue Squad Vehicles (Rescue Trucks) can lift up to about 2.9 tons, which is about the weight of 2 passenger cars.
However, the longer it stretches its arm, the less weight it can lift.
It works the same way as a crane truck used in construction.

Lifts heavy things with a mat that fills with air

The Rescue Squad Vehicle (Rescue Truck) also carries flat air mats.
When you slip one into a gap under a heavy object and pump air into it, the mat puffs up and lifts the object little by little.
It is said that a big mat can even lift very heavy things like a truck.
Because it fits into narrow gaps, it is helpful when saving people trapped under a car.
