Brachiosaurus is a dinosaur with a super long neck. It looks just like a giant giraffe! With this long neck, Brachiosaurus munched on leaves from high trees.

Brachiosaurus lived in a time called the "Jurassic Period," about 150 million to 140 million years ago. This period was the golden age of dinosaurs, when many different kinds of dinosaurs walked the Earth.

Brachiosaurus is a type of dinosaur called "Brachiosaurus altithorax". In English, it is written as "Brachiosaurus altithorax". The name "Brachiosaurus" means "arm lizard". That is such a fun name!

• It was about as long as 2 buses (about 25 meters)!
• It was about as tall as a 5-story apartment building (about 13 meters).
• They say it weighed as much as 10 elephants (about 30 to 50 tons)!

Hard "herbivorous dinosaur"!

Brachiosaurus was a very strong "plant-eating dinosaur." That means it ate plants to live, not meat. High tree leaves seem to have been its favorite food of all. Its super long neck was perfect for eating those tree leaves!

It loves leaves high up in the trees!

With its long neck and front legs longer than its back legs, it was great at eating leaves high up, just like a giraffe! It took its time eating leaves from high places that other dinosaurs couldn't reach.

To support its huge body, Brachiosaurus had thick and strong legs like pillars. It walked on the ground very slowly, didn't it?

Where Did Brachiosaurus Live?

People think Brachiosaurus mostly lived in the area that is now the United States. It seems they lived in wide, flat places and areas with lots of trees.

How long did it live?

We don't know for sure how long Brachiosaurus lived. But because they were so big, they lived pretty long lives! Some scientists think they might have lived for about 50 years.

How to Choose Colors: Make a Gentle, Huge Brachiosaurus!

• Main Body Color: Brachiosaurus was a gentle dinosaur that ate plants, so natural colors are a great choice!
  • Green (bright green, yellow-green, or dull green): Makes it look like it is inside a forest.
  • Brown (light brown or earth brown): Makes it look like it is walking slowly on the ground.
  • Gray (slightly bright gray or bluish gray): Gives it a calm and gentle look.
