About Chihuahua
Small and Cute Popular Dog! Chihuahua!
Chihuahua is a super popular dog that is known as the smallest dog breed in the world. People even call it the "smallest dog in the world." It is super cute with its big, round eyes and a round head shaped like an apple.
Where Did It Come From?
The Chihuahua came from a place called "Chihuahua State" in a country named Mexico. The name of the land became the dog's name! People think a dog named "Techichi" that lived in that area long ago might be the Chihuahua's ancestor.
Super Small Body!
A Chihuahua usually weighs around 1.5 to 3 kilograms. That is much lighter than the school backpack you wear every day! Because it is small, it can run around and play happily even inside your house.
The 2 Types of Chihuahua
There are 2 types of Chihuahua based on the length of their fur.
- Smooth Coat: The fur is short and feels smooth to touch. It looks very active!
- Long Coat: The fur is long and fluffy. The long hair on its ears and tail looks very elegant!
What Kind of Personality Does It Have?
Even though the Chihuahua is small, it is super brave and full of energy! It loves its owner and has a sweet, affectionate side too. It is a smart and loyal dog that can sometimes be a little cautious around strangers.
So Many Coat Colors!
Chihuahua fur does not come in just one color. There are so many colors and patterns, like cream, brown (red), black, and white. That is why every single Chihuahua is unique and special!
How to Color Chihuahua
How to Choose Colors
Chihuahua dogs come in so many coat colors! Imagine your favorite kind of Chihuahua and pick your colors!
- Main body colors: Try coloring with your favorite colors like brown (light brown or dark brown), cream, black, or white. You can use just one color, or mix a few colors to make a cute pattern.
- Patterns: A pattern called "tan" changes the color on the cheeks, above the eyes, and on the tips of the paws. You see this pattern a lot on Chihuahua dogs. White fur with black or brown spots looks great too.
- Nose: Most noses are black or pink.
- Ears: Color the inside of the ears a little bit of light pink to make it look real.
Let’s Show the Fluffy Fur!
Try different ways to color based on the coat type of your Chihuahua.
- Long coat: Color with longer overlapping lines along the flow of the fur to make it look fluffy. Use a soft touch, especially for the long fur on the ears and tail.
- Smooth coat: Since the fur is short, sharpen your colored pencil and draw short lines on top of each other. Or use crayons to color smoothly to show sleek, short fur.
How to Make It Look 3D: Think About "Shadows" and "Lights"!
Color along the round shape of the body so it does not look flat. Places that get shadows are:
- The underside of the belly and top of the legs
- Under the chin and behind the ears
- The base of the tail
Color these places a little darker. Then, keep places where light hits—like the forehead, back, and top of the nose—a little lighter, or leave them white. This makes your Chihuahua look round and 3D!
Decorate the Background to Make It Cute!
- Inside a room: Draw soft cushions or cute toys around your Chihuahua. A plaid rug or a room with flowers looks wonderful too.
- Accessories: Add a collar or a ribbon to make your Chihuahua look stylish and fancy. Make it your very own special Chihuahua!
