About Pomeranian

Fluffy and soft! Everyone's favorite, Pomeranian!

Pomeranian is a dog with fluffy, thick fur and a cute curled tail, just like cotton candy. Its round black eyes and happy smile are super charming! People often call it by the nickname "Pome".

Where did it come from?

Pomeranian's ancestors were big, strong Spitz-type dogs called "Samoyed" that pulled sleds in cold northern lands. In a place called the Pomerania region between Germany and Poland, people bred those dogs to make them smaller and smaller. That is how today's cute Pomeranian was born! So even though it is small, it is brave and full of energy.

How big is Pomeranian?

Pomeranian is a very small dog, weighing between 1.8 kg and 3.5 kg. Its size makes it easy to keep inside your home. Even with its tiny body, it loves exercise and running around on walks and during playtime!

What coat colors are there?

Pomeranian comes in many different coat colors! The most famous colors are bright orange and cream. There are many other colors too, like white, black, brown, black and tan (a black body with brown markings), and parti-color (a white body with spots of other colors).

Smart and full of energy!

Pomeranian is very smart and understands what its owner says very well. Long ago, some Pomeranian dogs even performed in circuses! It loves to play and is always full of energy. It is also very curious about everything. It can get a little lonely sometimes, so it will be so happy if you play with it a lot!

A big transformation with haircuts!

Because Pomeranian has long fur, you can enjoy many different hairstyle cuts. Famous ones are the "Shiba Inu cut", where the fur is cut short like a Shiba Inu, and the "Raccoon Dog cut (Teddy Bear cut)", where the fur is cut round like a teddy bear. A new haircut shows you a whole different kind of cuteness!

How to Color Pomeranian

How to Choose Colors

Bright and cheerful colors look great on a Pomeranian. Imagine your favorite Pomeranian colors and start coloring!

  • Body color: Orange, cream, and light brown are the most classic Pomeranian colors. Coloring your Pomeranian all white or all black looks very cool, too.
  • Around the face: Make the fur around the chest and face a little whiter or lighter than the body. This makes it look extra fluffy!
  • Ears: Color the edges of the ears a little darker. This makes the cute, pointy ears stand out.
  • Mouth: Trace the happy, smiling mouth with pink or red to give it a cheerful expression.
  • Tail: Color the tail curled over its back using the same color as the body. Try to make it look nice and fluffy!

Let’s Make It Look Fluffy!

The best thing about a Pomeranian is its big, fluffy fur. Let's make it look super soft and puffy.

  • Using colored pencils: Draw lots of short, overlapping lines to make the fur look soft. Follow the direction of the fur and draw lines along the round shape of the body.
  • Using crayons: Layer colors bit by bit to create a soft look. Gently color over the top with a white crayon to make it shine like light is hitting it!

How to Add 3D Magic: Think About Shadows and Light!

Imagine where the light is shining to bring out the round and cute shape of your Pomeranian.

  • Where the shadows are: Use a slightly darker color for lower and hidden spots like under the tummy, inside the legs, the base of the tail, and under the neck. This makes your Pomeranian look 3D!
  • Where the light hits: Leave spots like the top of the head, the back, and the top of the tail white, or color them very lightly. This makes it look bright and even fluffier!

Decorate a Cute Background!

  • Inside a room: Color cushions, balls, and toys with lots of bright colors. It will look like your Pomeranian is relaxing in its favorite room.
  • Outdoors: Color the park grass green and the sky light blue to make a fun walking scene. Adding flowers and butterflies is super cute, too!

Tips for Having Fun with Your Coloring Page!

You do not have to use real Pomeranian colors! A pink, light blue, or rainbow Pomeranian would be wonderful, too. Have fun finishing your very own special Pomeranian!
