"Na" in Hiragana comes from "奈"

Hiragana "Na" was created long ago by peopleIt comes from simplified charactersIt's a character that was made.
The original character that became Hiragana "Na" is "奈", which is also used in Nara Prefecture. "Hiragana "Na"" is Hiragana "Na".
It is said that as people wrote "奈" faster and faster, the top part turned into a cross shape, and the bottom part became a little loop, creating the Hiragana "Na" we use today!

Tips for writing Hiragana "Na"

Hiragana "Na" is4 strokesThis is how you write Hiragana "Na".
Line 1 is a short horizontal line, and line 2 is a diagonal line going down to the left that crosses it.
For the 3rd stroke, draw a little dot on the top right.

Color the canola flower yellow and green

Try using lemon yellow or bright yellow for the flowers.
If you make the flowers in the middle a bit darker yellow and the outside flowers light yellow, they will look soft and fluffy!
Use yellow-green or green for the stems and leaves.
If you color the unopened flower buds yellow-green, they will look just like real ones!

For the second page, think about the real colors

Orange-yellow is great for the summer mandarin, brown for the natto, and yellowish-brown for the straw wrapped around the natto.
If you color the sloth grayish-brown, it will look super realistic!
Color the rain boots yellow, red, blue, or any color you want to wear!

Tracing practice

There are 8 light gray "Na" in the boxes at the bottom right.
Hold your pencil correctly and trace them slowly. Try not to go outside the gray lines!

Petals in a Cross Shape

Rapeseed flowers have 4 petals, and they look like a cross when you look from above.
Cabbages, daikon radishes, and broccolis belong to the same family as rapeseed flowers.
When they bloom, they all have yellow or white cross-shaped flowers.

Getting Oil from Seeds

There is a plant called field mustard in the rapeseed flower family.
When you press field mustard seeds, you get oil called rapeseed oil.
Long ago, people burned this oil to use it as night lights.

Edible Rapeseed Flowers

You can eat rapeseed flower buds and young leaves and stems as spring vegetables.
They taste yummy and a little pleasantly bitter when made into boiled greens or mixed with mustard sauce.
In Chiba Prefecture, the rapeseed flower is the prefectural flower.

Rapeseed Flowers and Spring Bugs

When rapeseed flowers bloom, honeybees and cabbage white butterflies come to drink nectar.
Cabbage white caterpillars grow big by eating leaves of the rapeseed flower family, like cabbages.
