• Thailand: August 12th is their day for moms. This is the birthday of the Queen Mother of Thailand. Instead of carnations, people give pure white jasmine flowers.
• Australia: It is on the second Sunday of May, just like in Japan. But the popular flower to give is the chrysanthemum. In English, people call this flower "mum," so they choose it because it sounds just like "mum" (mom)!

• Overlapping Petals: Carnations have lots of petals sitting on top of each other. Instead of using just one color, try using both light pink and dark red. If you color the petals in the back a little darker, your flower will look fluffy and 3D!
