How to write uppercase "H" and lowercase "h"

Uppercase "H" takes 3 strokes.
Stroke ① is the left line going down. Stroke ② is the right line going down. Pull both straight down from top to bottom.
Stroke ③ connects the two lines in the middle from left to right.
On the 4 lines, write it full height from the 1st line at the top to the 3rd line.

Go straight down from the 1st line to the 3rd line. Then trace back up halfway, make a hump to the right, and go back down.
The top of the hump should touch the 2nd line to make it look neat.
"h" looks like a chair, so you can remember it as the "chair h"!

The "H" sound is a short puff of air

The name of the letter is "Aitch".
But we do not say "Aitch" inside a word.
The h in hat makes a light sound, like puffing out air with your mouth open.
Put your hand in front of your mouth and puff out air. You can feel warm air on your hand!
That is the "h" sound.
Learning how letters match their sounds like this is called Phonics.
Say "h, h, hat" with the sound first. It will help you remember!

Use the Stroke Order Colors for Big "H" and "h"

Color inside the big "H" and "h" at the top right with your favorite colors.

If you color the left straight line red, the right straight line blue, and the middle line green, you can easily see how to write them!
It is also fun to trace the stroke order with your finger while you color.

Think About the Ribbon Color for the Hat

For the hat, it is fun to choose the ribbon color first!
If you want to make a summer straw hat, try light yellow or yellow-brown for the hat, and red or dark blue for the ribbon.
If you want to make a fancy hat, a pink hat with a white or purple ribbon looks very cute, too.
If you color the knot of the ribbon a little darker, it will look nice and soft!

Let's Color the Small Pictures Too

For the horse, try brown or dark brown with a black mane and tail to make it look real.
For the house, try a red or blue roof, cream-colored walls, and light blue windows.
For the helicopter, bright colors like yellow or orange look great in the sky!

Trace on the Third Line

At the bottom right, there are 4 light gray "H"s and "h"s in a row.
Use your pencil to trace them slowly in the correct stroke order.
The trick is to place the bottom of the letters right on the third line of the four lines.
When you finish tracing, try writing Alphabet "H" by yourself in the empty space on the right!
