About Eizan Electric Railway Kirara
An observation train heading into Kyoto's mountains
Eizan Electric Railway Kirara is an observation train that runs on the Eizan Electric Railway in Kyoto.
Its official name is the 900 series, and it made its debut in October 1997.
It usually runs on the Kurama Line, from Demachiyanagi Station in Kyoto town to Kurama Station in the mountains.
Two cars make up one train, and there are two trains of the same design.
Tracks leading to famous autumn leaf spots
The area around the Kurama Line is famous for beautiful autumn leaves in Kyoto.
Near the last stop, Kurama Station, you can find Kurama-dera Temple. You can also visit Kifune-jinja Shrine from Kibuneguchi Station along the way.
When autumn comes, many people riding Eizan Electric Railway Kirara head to the mountains to see the colorful leaves.
It is so much fun to watch the view outside your window change from the town to the mountains, turning red and yellow step by step!
Big windows that reach all the way to the roof
The coolest feature of Eizan Electric Railway Kirara is its very big windows.
Above the side windows, there are glass skylights that curve up toward the roof. You can look up at the surrounding mountains and trees!
Inside the train, there are also seats that face the windows.
In autumn, you can look out at the autumn leaves all around you while riding the train.

The first coloring page shows a red Eizan Electric Railway Kirara stopped at a station platform in the mountains.
The big front window is split into three panels. Above that, three slanted glass windows sit along the roof edge too.
Try to find the maple leaf logo below the windows, the round lights set in pairs on each side, and the two windshield wipers.
On the left, you can see the platform with tactile paving tiles stretching far into the back.

How to Color Eizan Electric Railway Kirara
Red Body and a Gray Stripe
The Eizan Electric Railway Kirara in the 1st and 2nd pictures is bright red from the windows on up.
Under the windows is a thin gold line. Below that is light gray, and the very bottom edge is red again.
If you color the thin gold line with ocher or deep yellow, it will look super pretty!
The Eizan Electric Railway Kirara in the 3rd picture is orange, so try coloring it while comparing it to the red autumn leaves.
Big Windows Reflecting the Sky and Mountains
The Eizan Electric Railway Kirara has very big windows! Changing the window color will change how your whole picture feels.
If you color them light blue or light gray and leave a few white spots, they will look shiny like real glass.
Try coloring a little light blue in the skylights to show the sky above!
Use Bright Colors for the Platform in the 1st Picture
In the 1st picture, color the platform floor light gray. Color the tactile paving blocks along the edge yellow.
Bright colors on the platform will make the red Eizan Electric Railway Kirara stand out even more!
Mix Red, Orange, and Yellow for the Autumn Leaves
If you change the color of the maple leaves one by one, they will look just like real autumn leaves!
Try mixing red, orange, and yellow with a little bit of yellow-green for leaves that haven't changed color yet.
In the 2nd picture, if you color the cedar trees in the background dark green, the red autumn leaves will really pop!
The Railway Bridge and Mountain Stream
In the 2nd picture, coloring the railway bridge light blue-green will make it look close to the real thing.
In the 3rd picture, color the flowing water of the mountain stream light blue, and color the rocks different shades of gray and brown.
