About Toyo Rapid Railway
Connects to the Subway! Secrets of the Toyo Rapid Railway
Toyo Rapid Railway is a super handy railway that connects Nishi-Funabashi Station and Toyo-Katsutadai Station in Chiba Prefecture. The cool thing about it is that past Nishi-Funabashi Station, the train goes straight onto the Tokyo Metro Tozai Line subway and runs right into the middle of Tokyo. That is why it carries lots of people every day who travel from Chiba to Tokyo for work or fun.
The Cool Series 2000
The train running on the Toyo Rapid Railway right now is called the "Series 2000". Its shiny silver body looks so cool! On the side of the train, there are three stripes in orange, red, and white. These are the signature colors of the Toyo Rapid Railway. This train does not just run fast. It is also spacious inside with comfy seats, so you can relax even on long rides.
A Fun Line with Changing Views
When you ride the Toyo Rapid Railway, it is fun to watch the scenery outside keep changing. Just when you think you are going through a dark underground tunnel, suddenly you are high up on a bridge looking over the city! The moment you pop out of the dark tunnel into the bright sunshine feels just like you are on an adventure.
How to Color Toyo Rapid Railway
When you color the Toyo Rapid Railway coloring page, try to recreate those special lines nicely!
- 3 lines: The lines in the middle of the train go in this order from top to bottom: orange, white, and red. Sharpen your colored pencils well, and try to color them neatly and thinly.
- Silver train body: The body is made of a metal called stainless steel, so using gray or silver is a great idea. If you leave a little bit of white uncolored, it will look shiny, like the sunlight is bouncing off it!
- The face of the train: If you color around the front windows black, it will give the train a sharp, cool look. Try coloring the lights yellow or orange to make them look like they are glowing!
- Ideas for the background: If it is a scene where the train runs through an underground tunnel, color the area around it dark. If it is a scene where it runs across a high bridge, draw lots of blue skies and the pretty town views of Chiba!
You do not just have to use the real colors. It is super creative and fun to color your very own "Future Toyo Rapid Railway" using any colors you like!
Fun Facts About Toyo Rapid Railway
Does It Have a Brother That Looks Just Like It!?
The Toyo Rapid Railway 2000 series was made to look like the Tokyo Metro Tozai Line "05 series (a newer type)" that runs with it. That's why their faces and lights look so much alike. But Toyo Rapid Railway is "Sun Orange", and the Tozai Line is "Sky Blue." Since their colors are totally different, you can tell them apart right away! Not just the outside, but the inside of the train (like the seat colors) is a little different too. It is fun to look for the "look-alike, but different here and there" parts!
It Worked Somewhere Else Before!? The Secret of the "1000 Series"
Before the current 2000 series came out, a train called the "1000 series" was running. This train was originally a blue-striped train (5000 series) on the Tokyo Metro Tozai Line. Toyo Rapid Railway got it and remade it for its own use. At that time, the blue stripe was repainted into the same orange stripe as today's 2000 series! It is retired now, but it was a very strong and important train that helped Toyo Rapid Railway when it first started.
It Actually Climbs Very "Steep Hills"
On the Toyo Rapid Railway tracks, there are places with very steep hills when coming out from underground. Even on hills that are hard for normal trains to climb, the 2000 series can climb up easily using its powerful motor!
Why the Station Platforms Are Very Long
When you go to a Toyo Rapid Railway station, do you notice how long the platform is? This is so a super long 10-car train can stop there. It is a powerful railway that can carry about 1,500 people all at once!
