About Peach

Sweet and Juicy! Peach!

Peach is a fruit known for its round, cute shape and skin covered in soft pink fuzz. Its sweet and juicy flesh is so delicious! People love to eat it fresh, but you can also find it in juice, jelly, and compote. It is a popular fruit that comes into season in the summer.

Where Peach Came From

People say that Peach was born near the upper Yellow River in China more than 2,000 years ago. In ancient China, Peach was seen as a lucky food for long life and eternal youth. Later, it traveled along the Silk Road to Europe and spread all over the world. In Japan, Peach seeds have been found in ruins from the Yayoi period, so we think people have been eating it for a very long time.

Where Does It Grow?

Peach grows in warm areas. In Japan, places like Yamanashi, Nagano, and Fukushima Prefectures are famous for growing lots of Peach. When it gets plenty of sunlight and grows in a breezy spot, Peach becomes sweet and delicious.

How Peach Grows

In spring, Peach grows cute pink flowers. When bees and other insects pollinate these flowers, they slowly turn into tiny fruits. They start out green, but as they soak up the sun, they ripen into a tasty-looking pink color.

Different Kinds of Peach

There are many kinds of Peach in Japan.

  • Hakuho: This kind has soft flesh, lots of juice, and a very sweet taste.
  • Akatsuki: A popular Peach with firm flesh and a rich, sweet flavor.
  • Ogon-to (Golden Peach): This Peach has yellow flesh. You can enjoy a rich sweetness and smell just like a mango!

Full of Good Nutrition!

Peach has lots of nutrients that are great for your body.

  • Potassium: It has plenty of potassium, which helps clean out things your body does not need and keeps your blood pressure healthy.
  • Dietary Fiber: It also has dietary fiber to help your tummy feel good.

How to Color Peach

How to choose colors: Let’s draw the soft downy fuzz!

When you color Peach, the secret is to make it look yummy pink and soft and fuzzy! You can use pink and yellow. Try adding highlights and shadows to make it look even more real!

  • Peach color ideas:
    • Pink: When you think of Peach, soft pink comes to mind. Start with pink as your main color. If you mix in a little bit of orange or yellow, it will look soft and gentle!
    • Mixed colors: If you color a Peach with mixed pink and yellow, blend the colors where they meet. This makes it look super real!
  • Soft downy fuzz:
    • Peach skin has lots of tiny soft hairs! Instead of coloring it all solid, use the tip of your colored pencil to draw lots of short lines. It will look nice and fuzzy!
  • Smooth shiny look:
    • Peach skin is smooth and shiny. Leave the bright shiny spots a little white or light-colored.
    • You can also draw a quick stroke with a white colored pencil over dark pink to add a shiny glow!
  • Shadow colors:
    • The dented parts and bottom parts of Peach are in the shade.
    • Layer a little bit of dark pink or brown in these spots to make Peach look 3D!
  • Leaf and stem colors:
    • Color the leaves on Peach green, and color the stem brown.
  • Background colors:
    • Peach grows in an orchard! Mix colors like green and sky blue to show Peach growing out in nature.

How to make it look 3D: Use "Light and Dark" and "Shadows"!

Peach has a cute, round shape! If you do a great job with "light and dark colors" and "shadows", your coloring page will look even more full of life!

  • Where to use light and dark:
    • Imagine where the light hits the round part of Peach. Leave those spots a little lighter.
    • You can also draw a quick stroke with a white colored pencil over dark colors to add a shiny glow!
  • Where to put shadows:
    • The dented part of Peach and under the stem are in the shade.
    • Color these spots with a little darker color or brown to make it look real!

Tips for colored pencils, crayons, and paints!

  • Colored pencils:
    • Press hard to color dark, and press lightly to color soft. It is easy to make light and dark shades this way!
    • Layer other colors (like yellow or brown) over pink to get a deep, rich color.
  • Crayons:
    • Crayons make it easy to get a smooth look! You can also rub the colors with your finger to blend them.
  • Paints:
    • Mix a tiny bit of water into pink paint to make a soft pink. Try painting the bright shiny spots with it! Once it dries, add a darker pink over it to add depth.
