About Silver-washed Fritillary
A Sports Car Chosen for Its Beauty
The Silvia is a 2-door sports car made by Nissan.
It was built not just for speed, but with a big focus on looking beautiful, too.
From the first model in 1965 to 2002, seven generations were made.
Its shape changed completely with each generation, so it is really fun to line them up and compare them!
The First Model Was Like a Gem
The first model came out in 1965.
Its main feature is the sharp, folded edges that look just like a cut gem.
Because it was built mostly by hand, only 554 cars were ever made.
It is a very rare car today that you almost never see!
Changing Shapes from 2nd to 4th Generation
The 2nd model came out in 1975, and the 3rd model in 1979.
The 3rd model even raced in world rallies and zoomed over bumpy roads.
The 4th model appeared in 1983. It got pop-up headlights that hide inside the hood.
They pop right up only when you turn the lights on!
Super Popular from 5th to 7th Generation
The 5th model, the S13, came out in 1988 and became super popular for its sleek look.
It even won Japan Car of the Year that year.
The 6th model, the S14, came out in 1993 with a slightly bigger body.
The 7th model, the S15, appeared in 1999. It became a bit smaller again so it could drive swiftly.
Then in 2002, the Silvia ended its 37-year history.
The Secret Behind the Name
The name "Silvia" comes from a pure maiden in Greek mythology.
The Latin word it comes from also means "forest."
This gentle and elegant name is a perfect fit for such a beautiful car!

How to Color Silver-washed Fritillary
Try to Match the Real Colors
The Silvia has popular colors for each generation.
Light green and white look great on the 1st generation, while dark brown and reddish brown suit the 2nd and 3rd generations.
The 5th generation S13 looks awesome in light aqua green. White, silver, and yellow are popular for the 6th and 7th generations too.
Color your favorite generation in its real-life color!
Try a Two-Tone Color Scheme
Many cars in the 4th and 5th generations have a two-tone color, where only the bottom part of the body is a different color.
On your coloring page, try using dark gray or silver for the part below the line running under the door.
Changing the color between the top and bottom makes it look just like the real thing!
Make the Chrome Shiny
The 1st and 2nd generations have shiny chrome on the bumpers and around the lights.
From the 3rd generation on, the bumpers changed to black resin.
Color the chrome with silver or gray, and leave a few white spots to make it look shiny.
Try coloring the thin mirrors on the hood of the 1st through 3rd generations in shiny chrome colors too!
Tires and Wheels
Color the tires dark gray or black.
Silver is the standard color for the wheels.
The 7th generation wheels have lots of thin spokes. If you color between the spokes with dark gray, they will look 3D!
Lights and Glass
For the headlights, leave the inside white and color just the edges in light gray to make them look like real glass.
Color the windows light blue and leave slanted white lines to make it look like the light is shining on them!

A Special 3rd-Generation for Rally Racing
There was a special 3rd-generation Silvia made for overseas rally races.
