It was also a star in world rallies and became one of Toyota's most famous cars.
The Secret of the Name
The name "Celica" comes from a Spanish word meaning "heavenly" or "divine".
It shows the wish to make a car as wonderful as something up in the sky.
The First Generation Like a Daruma Doll
The first generation appeared in December 1970.
Its front looked round and sturdy, so people affectionately called it Daruma.
It was also famous for a new selling style where buyers could pick and mix the engine and interior options they liked.
In 1973, a style called Liftback joined the lineup, with a rear door that opened wide.

The 2nd generation appeared in 1977, and the 3rd generation in 1981, both with boxy shapes.

It had retractable headlights that hid inside the hood.
The 5th generation appeared in 1989, and the 6th generation in 1993. The 6th generation had a unique front with four round headlights.
The 7th generation appeared in 1999 with a sharp, cool look.
Then in 2006, Celica finished its long history of about 35 years.
Across all seven generations, so many Celica cars drove all around the world.

The 2nd generation also has chrome bumpers, but both ends are black.
The 3rd generation has bumpers that are completely black or dark gray.
Using different colors for the car body and the bumpers will make it look much more real!
Turn it into a rally car!
The 4th to 6th generations of Celica did amazing things in world rally races!
The rally cars were super cool, with red and green patterns on a white body.
Draw your favorite patterns and numbers on the side of the body to make your very own rally car!
Tires and wheels
Color the tires dark gray or black.
Silver is the best color for the wheels.
For the 6th generation's 3-spoke wheels, color between the spokes with dark gray to make them pop out!
Lights and windows
For round or square lights, leave the insides white and color just the edges light gray to make them look like real glass.
Color the windows light blue and leave diagonal white lines to make it look like light is shining on them!
