History of Evolution! Generations of Lancer Evolution

There are 10 generations of Lancer Evolution, from I (One) to X (Ten). The first generation is I (One) to III (Three). The second generation is IV (Four) to VI (Six). Lancer Evolution I

This is the memorable first Lancer Evolution. To win in rallies, engineers put the engine and 4WD system from a bigger, stronger car called "Galant" into a normal Lancer. It has a big hole on the hood. Air went in through this hole to cool down the engine. It still looked calm, but the legend started right here!

Lancer Evolution II

Lancer Evolution II was even more powerful than the first one. The parts around the tires got stronger, so it could turn corners faster. The wheels (the metal part of the tires) became new, and it looked a little tougher. It could drive even faster and more smoothly than Lancer Evolution I.

Lancer Evolution III

Lancer Evolution III looked super cool! The front bumper got a big air intake, and the rear wing (the wing on the back) became very large. Thanks to this big wing, the car stayed steady even when driving super fast. With this car, it finally became the World Rally Championship winner!

Lancer Evolution IV

The look changed a lot from here! The base Lancer became new, so Lancer Evolution got a totally new design, too. The biggest detail is the huge round fog lights on the bumper. The front face looked super cool and powerful! The engine became new, too, and got even more powerful.

Lancer Evolution V

Lancer Evolution V kept the power of Lancer Evolution IV, but got new ideas to drive even faster. The tires got bigger, and the body got a little wider to match them. That is why it looks more muscular! You could even change the angle of the rear wing. It was an amazing wing that you could set up to fit the place you drive.

Lancer Evolution VI

Lancer Evolution VI improved Lancer Evolution V and made smaller parts even better. To help the air flow, the license plate was moved a little to the side instead of the middle. This helped the cool wind hit the engine better. The rear wing also got a special two-deck shape.

Lancer Evolution VII

The base car became new again, and Lancer Evolution VII got a slightly bigger, grown-up look. But it was still amazing inside! It got a new system called "ACD." This helped the car control the power of the tires smarter when turning corners. It became easier to turn on any road.

Lancer Evolution VIII

Lancer Evolution VIII took the look of Lancer Evolution VII and made it sportier and cooler. The biggest detail is the design shaped like Mitsubishi's "Three Diamonds" mark in the middle of the front grille. People call it the "Boulay face." Light and strong carbon material was used for the rear wing.

Lancer Evolution IX

Lancer Evolution IX kept the look of Lancer Evolution VIII, but used a new engine technology called "MIVEC." This made the car respond better when you step on the gas pedal. The look did not change much, but how it drives evolved a lot! Some people called it "the strongest Lancer Evolution."

Lancer Evolution X

This is the very last Lancer Evolution. It has a totally different look with a sharp face called the "Jet Fighter Grille." It is a super futuristic design! It got a new engine, an advanced 4WD system called "S-AWC," and a system called "TC-SST" that shifts gears super fast. It evolved so anyone can drive fast and safe!

How to Choose Colors

If you are coloring the Lancer Evolution, the cool colors from its racing days look great! Coloring it in your favorite color is best, but how about these colors?

• Body color: Bright red is super famous for rally cars! White, silver, yellow, and blue are also popular colors. It is also fun to make a design with lots of stickers, just like a real race car!
