About Honda StepWGN
A Big Minivan for the Whole Family
Honda StepWGN is a minivan made by Honda.
A minivan is a tall car with a big inside that can carry lots of people.
Honda StepWGN has three rows of seats and can carry 7 or 8 people.
The first model came out in 1996, and now the 6th model is being made.
For 30 years, it has been taking many families on fun trips.
Secrets of the Name and Shape
The name "Honda StepWGN" comes from a wish for people to step up in all kinds of moments.
People also say it comes from an older Honda car called the Life Step Van.
It is written as "STEP WGN" in English. "WGN" is short for wagon.
The first model was known for its square, boxy shape and its low floor.
Because the floor was low, it was easy to get in and out, and the inside was very big.
The 6 Generations of Honda StepWGN
The 1st generation came out in 1996. It only had a sliding door on the left side.
The 2nd generation came out in 2001. It kept the square shape of the 1st one, but the inside was brand new.
The 3rd generation came out in 2005. Its floor was even lower, and the height was a little shorter. It got a sliding door on the right side too, making it sliding doors on both sides.
The 4th generation came out in 2009. It was longer and taller to make the inside even bigger.
The 5th generation came out in 2015. It had a cool back door called the Waku Waku Gate that could also open sideways.
The 6th generation came out in 2022. It came with two cool looks: the simple AIR and the stylish SPADA.
Secrets of the Waku Waku Gate
The back door on the 5th generation did not just open up like a normal car door. Part of it could also open sideways.
If you folded the 3rd row seats into the floor, you could climb right into the 3rd row from the small back door.
This made it easy to put things in and out, even in tight spaces where you could not open the whole door.

How to Color Honda StepWGN
Try using the real colors
The example cars use these colors: 1st gen is dark green, 2nd gen is light gold, 3rd and 6th gen are white, 4th gen is cream, and 5th gen is silver.
If you use different colors for each gen, it looks super fun when you line up all 6 pages!
You can also color them like your family car, or a Honda StepWGN you saw in town.
How to color the big body
The Honda StepWGN is tall, and it has lots of big flat sides.
For wide areas, move your colored pencil in the same direction to color it smoothly.
The 1st gen example car has a gray bottom on its bumper. If you color it differently from the body, it looks just like the real thing!
For white cars, leave the paper white and color just the bottom part light gray. That makes it look 3D!
For the silver 5th gen, color it light gray and leave a little bit of white on the roof and hood. It will look shiny!
Windows and lights
The Honda StepWGN has big windows, so how you color the glass changes the look a lot!
Color the window glass light blue or gray, and leave diagonal white lines to make it look like real glass.
Leave the inside of the headlights white, and color just the edges light gray.
For the 6th gen, coloring the strip between the lights dark gray or black makes the front look nice and cool.
Tires and wheels
Color the tires dark gray or black.
For the 1st and 2nd gen, it looks great if you color the wheel caps silver or light gray.
The 6th gen example car has black wheels. Try copying this cool look with a white body and black wheels!
If you color the gaps in the spokes dark gray, the wheels will look 3D.
Fun Facts About Honda StepWGN
Where Shall We Go with the Kids?
When the first model came out in 1996, the ads used the words, "Where shall we go with the kids?"
Instead of how fast the car was, the ads showed how much fun a family can have going out together.
The song "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da" played in the commercials. The start of this song was even used again in the commercial for the 6th-generation model in 2022!
A Popular Car with Over 1 Million Sold
Honda StepWGN has been chosen by so many families.
In 2008, the total number sold in Japan went over 1 million cars! In 2017, the total since the first model went over 1.5 million cars. It took 21 years and 5 months from the time the first model came out.
Clever Tricks to Stop Motion Sickness
The 6th-generation Honda StepWGN is built so passengers are less likely to get motion sick.
The shape of the car uses lots of flat, straight lines so the view outside stays calm for your eyes.
