About Christmas Candle
Christmas Candle
Christmas Candle is a candle that people use to decorate at Christmas time.
You can set it up with holly, pinecones, and ornaments to light up a gentle flame.
In Christianity, the light of a candle is thought to be a special light that shows Jesus Christ.
At churches, people sometimes hold a candle service on Christmas Eve night where everyone lights candles and sings together.
The Wreath That Counts Down to Christmas
Four weeks before Christmas, a special time to wait for Christmas called Advent starts.
At this time, there is a tradition to set up an Advent wreath with 4 candles standing on it.
Every Sunday, you light one more candle. When all 4 candles are lit, Christmas is almost here!
Advent in 2026 starts on Sunday, November 29th.
It Started with 24 Candles
People say a man named Wichern created the Advent wreath in Hamburg, Germany, in 1839.
So that children could count how many days were left until Christmas, he put 24 candles on a big wooden ring.
They lit a big white candle on Sundays and small red candles on the other days, adding one candle every day.
Over time, it got smaller and became today's wreath with 4 candles.

Christmas Colors and Candles
Red, green, and gold are often used for Christmas decorations.
If you put green fir branches or holly next to a red candle, you get a very Christmassy table.
It is also wonderful to set it up with the red leaves of a Poinsettia.
The soft light of the candle makes winter nights warm when the family gathers together.
How to Color Christmas Candle
The Flame Goes from Yellow to Orange
For the flame of the Christmas Candle, make the middle white or pale yellow, and turn it into orange as you go to the outside.
If you spread pale yellow widely around the light lines near the flame, it will look softly bright!
The Candle in Red or White
For the Christmas Candle, red, white, or cream color feels just like Christmas.
If you color the dripping wax a little lighter, it will really look like melted wax.
For the candles on the Advent wreath, all four can be the same color, or you can mix in purple and pink.
Fir Branches and Decorations
Layer dark green and green on the fir branches, and make the tips of the leaves a little brighter.
Pinecones are brown, and dried oranges are orange. It looks pretty if you leave the lines of the slices white!
Try using reddish brown for the cinnamon sticks.
The Night Window
For the night sky outside the window in the second coloring page, color it dark blue, and leave the stars and snow white.
The light of the Christmas Candle inside the room will look warm compared to the night sky.
The Lantern Glass
Leave most of the lantern glass white in the second coloring page, and color only the flame of the Christmas Candle inside with yellow and orange.
If you use dark brown or gold instead of black for the lantern frame, it will feel soft.
If you make the window frame and table behind the Christmas Candle a light brown, the color of the Christmas Candle will really stand out.
Let's try coloring the bells and ornaments gold!
