About Snow globe
A glass ornament where snow dances when you shake it
A Snow globe is an ornament with a round glass dome. Inside, there is water and little figures like a small town or a snowman.
When you turn it upside down or shake it, tiny specs inside float down slowly, just like real snow.
They are very popular as Christmas and winter decorations.
In English, they are also called snow globes.
The history of the Snow globe
It is said that the Snow globe was born in 19th-century France.
People say they became popular at a world fair in Paris, where someone made a Snow globe with the Eiffel Tower inside.
In Vienna, Austria, there is a family workshop that has been making Snow globes for over 100 years.
It is said that the Snow globe from this workshop was invented while trying to make operating room lights brighter.
Why the snow falls so slowly
The water inside a Snow globe often has a thick liquid mixed in.
Thanks to that liquid, the snowflakes do not sink right away, so they look like they are falling slowly.
If you have a jar, water, and small decorations, you can even make your own at home!

Watching the snow fall gently can make you feel calm and happy.
Inside the glass, there is a tiny winter world filled with snowmen, Santa Claus, reindeer, Christmas trees, and more.
Some people love to collect them as travel souvenirs.
If you line up Snow globes from different towns and countries, you can feel like you are traveling around the world!
How to Color Snow globe
The secret is not to color the glass too much
For the Snow globe's glass globe, color it with just a tiny bit of light blue, or leave it white.
If you leave the shiny shine lines completely white, the glass will look shiny and bright!
Color the world inside brightly
Try coloring the snowman, house, and trees inside the glass with regular, clear colors.
If you make the snowman's scarf red, the fir tree green, and the house window yellow, it will look like a light is turned on!
Leave the snowflakes white.
Make the base wood or gold
If you color the Snow globe's base brown, it will look like wood. If you use yellow and ocher, it will look like gold!
For the carved base in the 3rd picture, color the parts that stick out lighter, and the parts that go in a little darker. That will make it look 3D!
Colors around the glass
For the 2nd picture, if you color the curtains and window behind it with dark colors, the bright Snow globe will pop right out!
If you want to make it night, color the outside of the window navy blue and leave the falling snow white.
Keep the snowflakes white
Be careful not to color over the snowflakes inside the glass when you color around them.
If you color around the snowflakes first, and then color the big open areas last, the white flakes will stay nice and clean.
When you finish coloring, it is also fun to add more dots with a white pen to make it snow even more!
