About Shinkansen E5 Series / H5 Series

The Cool Green Body! Shinkansen E5 Series / H5 Series!

The E5 Series runs as the "Hayabusa" on the Tohoku Shinkansen and Hokkaido Shinkansen lines. It is a super fast bullet train! It is the fastest Shinkansen in Japan. It can run at 320 kilometers per hour! That is about three times faster than a car driving on the highway. It has a long, sleek nose. This special shape helps make the loud noise quieter when it goes into tunnels.

Where does the E5 Series run?

The E5 Series running on the Tohoku Shinkansen starts at Tokyo Station. It goes through Saitama, Tochigi, Fukushima, Miyagi, and Iwate all the way to Shin-Aomori Station. Sometimes it even goes to Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto Station in Hokkaido! It runs for a very long distance. Besides the "Hayabusa," it also works as the "Hayate," "Yamabiko," and "Nasuno."

Where does the H5 Series run?

The H5 Series running on the Hokkaido Shinkansen goes from Shin-Aomori Station to Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto Station. But sometimes the H5 Series is used for direct rides between Tokyo and Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto on the Tohoku Shinkansen, too. It works as the "Hayabusa" and "Hayate."

The Pink Line Looks So Cool!

The body of the E5 Series is painted in a pretty green called "Tokiwa Green" and a white called "Hiun White." It also has a bright line in the middle called "Tsutsuji Pink," just like the color of azalea flowers. This pink line is a cute touch on the fast and cool E5 Series! The H5 Series has a purple line called "Saika Purple" instead of pink. It looks like lavender!

Look-alikes? Shinkansen E5 Series / H5 Series!

The E5 Series and H5 Series look almost the same. The H5 Series was made for the Hokkaido Shinkansen. Its basic shape and colors are nearly the same as the E5 Series. You can tell them apart by the line color on the body and their logo marks! The E5 Series has a logo made to look like the "Hayabusa" falcon. The H5 Series has a cool logo shaped like Hokkaido and the "Gyrfalcon" that flies to Hokkaido.
