About Christmas present
Christmas Present
A Christmas present is a gift you give to your family and friends at Christmas.
You wrap it in pretty paper, put a ribbon on it, and keep it safe until the day you give it.
In Japan, many children look forward to Santa Claus bringing them a present on Christmas Eve night.
Waking up in the morning and finding a present by your pillow or under the tree is a very special kind of happy!
The Origin of the Christmas Present
The custom of giving a Christmas present is said to come from the story of a man named Saint Nicholas.
Long ago, Saint Nicholas was a kind person who secretly gave gifts to people in trouble.
In Europe, some countries give treats and toys to children on December 6th, which is Saint Nicholas Day.
It is said that Saint Nicholas later became the model for Santa Claus.
Wrapping them is fun too
A Christmas present is fun not just for what is inside, but also for how it is wrapped.
If you wrap the box in paper with snowflakes, stars, or holly, and tie the ribbon in a bow, it will look super festive.
If you add a handmade card, your feelings will reach them even better.
3 Christmas present coloring pages
There are 3 coloring pages.
The 1st page shows 3 Christmas present boxes with ribbons stacked and lined up.
The 2nd page shows a sled piled high with Christmas present boxes in a snowy forest at night.
The 3rd page is a detailed coloring page with lots of Christmas presents stacked up, wrapped in different patterns.
Pick different colors and patterns for each box, and make it look bright and fun!
If you put them together with the Christmas tree and Santa Claus coloring pages, your room will feel just like Christmas!
Time to choose a Christmas present
Getting a present makes you happy, but the time you spend choosing it is lots of fun too.
You pick it out while thinking, "What would make them happy?"
Buying a present at a store is great, but handmade gifts like drawings and crafts are wonderful too.
It is also a great idea to color this coloring page and give it as a card.
How to Color Christmas present
Use Different Colors for the Box and Ribbon
If you color the box and the ribbon in different colors, it will look just like a Christmas present!
A gold or green ribbon looks great on a red box. A silver or white ribbon goes well on a blue box.
If you color the underside of the ribbon and the area under the knot a little darker, the ribbon will look nice and fluffy.
Change the Brightness on Each Side of the Box
For a square box, make the top side the brightest and color the sides a little darker. That makes it look 3D!
You can do this using just one color by changing how hard you press down.
For a round box, try making the middle bright and the left and right edges a little darker.
Have Fun with Wrapping Paper Patterns
For the pattern on the third page, it looks pretty if you color the background color first, and then color the pattern in a different color.
Color snowflakes and stars in white or yellow. Color holly leaves in green and berries in red.
Stripes and checks look very festive when you alternate two colors!
The Snowy Night Forest
On the second page, color the sky in dark blue or navy blue, and color the stars and moon in yellow.
Leave the snow white and add just a little light blue for the shadows. That will make the fallen snow look soft and fluffy!
If you color the sleigh in brown or red, it will give it a nice, cozy feel.
Add Shiny Highlights to the Ribbon
Leave one thin white line on the ribbon to make it look smooth and shiny!
It is a good idea to decide where to leave white before you start coloring.
Fun Facts About Christmas present
Gifts from the Three Wise Men
In the Bible, there is a story that when Jesus Christ was born, three wise men from the East came and gave Him gifts.
The gifts were gold, frankincense, and myrrh, which smelled very nice.
People sometimes connect this story to a Christmas present too.
Bow Knots on Ribbons
You can tie a ribbon into a bow again and again.
That is why people use bows for celebration gifts. It shows the wish that "many happy things will happen again and again!"
What Is Inside the Present?
It is fun that you do not know what is inside a present box until you open it!
It is also fun to guess what is inside from how big or heavy the box is.
Try to color the boxes on the coloring page while thinking about what might be inside!
Boxing Day
In countries like the UK, the day after Christmas, December 26th, is called Boxing Day.
Some people say it started a long time ago as a day to give gifts in boxes to people who helped you.
