Japan's World-Famous Supercar! Honda NSX

The NSX is a super fast and cool "supercar" made by Honda! It was built with special technology and passion to beat fast cars all around the world. It looks low to the ground so it can cut through the air and go super fast. The engine is behind the driver's seat. This setup is called "mid-ship," and it helps the car turn corners really well!

History and Types

There are two main types of NSX: the classic model and the new model. Both were amazing cars built to be the "best in the world" in their own time!

• First Generation (NA1/NA2): This first NSX came out in 1990. It was the first car in the world to make its body out of aluminum instead of iron! Aluminum is lighter than iron, so it made the car lighter and super fast. The early NA1 model has cool "pop-up headlights" that open right up!
• Second Generation (NC1): This new NSX came out in 2016. It is a "hybrid" supercar that uses a gas engine together with three electric motors. The power of the motors lets you turn super smoothly, just like you are on a train track! In 2022, a final model called "Type S" came out. Only 350 were made for the whole world, and only 30 cars were sold in Japan! That makes it super rare. After this, production of the NSX came to an end.

Cool Features of the NSX

The NSX has lots of special features that other cars do not have!

• Mid-ship Layout: Putting the heavy engine right in the middle of the car (just behind the driver's seat) gives it great balance. This helps you zip through sharp turns easily!
• Low Body: It has a low shape that hugs the ground. This design is very important for cutting through the wind. It is only 1,170 mm tall! That is about as high as a grown-up's waist, so you will be amazed at how low it is when you stand next to it!
• Cockpit: The driver's seat is shaped like a fighter jet, so you can see all around you really well!

How to Choose Colors

When you color your NSX coloring page, try choosing bright colors just like a real supercar!

• Car Body Color: For the NSX, the bright "Formula Red" and the glowing "Indy Yellow Pearl" are super famous. For the second-generation NSX, a deep special red called "Valencia Red Pearl" or a pretty blue called "Nouvelle Blue Pearl" look great too!
• Roof: If you color just the roof black on the first or second-generation NSX, it makes the car look lower and even cooler!
• Headlights: When the headlights are open on the first-generation model, color the lenses with a bright color. When they are closed, color them the same as the body. For the second-generation, try coloring the headlights thin so they look like sharp eyes!
• Tires and Wheels: For the wheels, silver or gunmetal (dark gray) look awesome. Color the tires dark black to make them look like they are gripping the ground hard!

• Make It Shiny: If you leave some white spots (highlights) on the hood and roof, the car will look like it is shining bright!
• Make Dark Parts Stand Out: Color the window frames and air vents with dark black. It will make the whole car look strong and sharp!

Supercars are often in special places. Try drawing a racing track, a city with a pretty night view, or a big road along the sea as your background. If the car is driving super fast, draw lines in the background to show its amazing speed!

When making the first NSX, they looked at the cockpit of the US Air Force's "F-16" jet fighter. They wanted the driver to see around easily. That is why the inside of the NSX lets you look all around without the posts getting in your way!

World's First! A Car Made with an Aluminum Body

The first NSX was the world's first mass-made car with a frame made all out of a metal called "aluminum." This idea is called an "all-aluminum monocoque body." Aluminum is much lighter than the "iron" used in normal cars. Getting rid of that extra weight helps it run super fast!

A Legendary Racer Gave Great Advice

A legendary racer named Ayrton Senna, who won the world championship in F1 racing, helped make the NSX too. He drove it on a test track and said, "You should make the car body stronger." Thanks to his advice, the NSX became an amazing supercar known all over the world!
