About Chuo-Sobu Line
The Yellow Train Running Through the City! Chuo-Sobu Line
The Chuo-Sobu Line is a super handy train line that connects Chiba Station in Chiba Prefecture to Mitaka Station in Tokyo. Its official name is "Chuo-Sobu Line Local," and just like the name says, it stops at every single station! Its cool look comes from the bright canary yellow stripe on its body. It runs right through the middle of Tokyo, taking lots of people to school and work every day.
Train Types and Features
The main train running on the Chuo-Sobu Line right now is a model called the "E231 series." You can spot it by its shiny silver body with a yellow line!
- E231-0 series: This is a veteran train that has been working on the Chuo-Sobu Line for a long time. You can tell it apart because its front face is also silver.
- E231-500 series: This train used to run on the Yamanote Line, but it moved over to the Chuo-Sobu Line! It has a white front face, so it looks a little newer.
- Subway Connections: At Nakano Station and Nishi-Funabashi Station, trains with blue stripes from the Tokyo Metro Tozai Line run on the same tracks! It is fun to watch different colored trains use the same rails.
Station Secrets
The Chuo-Sobu Line has many famous stations! Akihabara Station is close to cool tech and anime shops, and Shinjuku Station is famous for having the most passengers in the whole world! Near Mitaka Station, you can find the Ghibli Museum, which is famous for Totoro. It is so much fun to watch the scenery change as you ride past city skyscrapers and lovely green spots!
How to Color Chuo-Sobu Line
How to Choose Your Colors
When you color the Chuo-Sobu Line coloring page, try to make its trademark "yellow" look super cool!
- The stripe on the train body: The most important part is the thick stripe running along the side of the train body. Use a bright yellow (like lemon yellow or canary yellow) and color it neatly inside the lines.
- The color of the train body: The train body is made of silver metal (stainless steel). If you color it lightly with a gray or silver pencil, it will look shiny like real metal!
- Window glass: If you color the windows with a little bit of blue or dark gray, it will look just like the real thing! It is also fun to draw people riding inside!
- The train's face: If you use black around the lights and the destination sign, it will make the face look sharp and cool.
Make It Look Fast!
Let's make the train look like it is zooming along!
- Adding shadows: Draw shadows with dark gray on the machinery under the train floor and around the pantograph (the equipment on the roof that takes in electricity). This gives it a 3D feel and a cool, real finish!
- Fun background ideas: Try drawing tall city buildings or people waiting on the station platform. Drawing yellow rape blossoms next to the tracks is also wonderful because they match the train's color!
Your Very Own Original Train
The real color is yellow, but you can color it any way you like! What if there were a "rainbow-colored Sobu Line"? Use your favorite colors and make a one-of-a-kind train!
